Upset that she still hadn't told E.J. she was pregnant, Lucas announced to Sami that he was leaving. She explained that she was thinking of leaving town for awhile. He surprisingly talked about how E.J. could be a help to her but Sami decided that she wanted Lucas to claim the baby was his. Lucas refused and when Sami guessed he wouldn't help for fear of what Chloe would say, Lucas left her. Nicole was pleased when E.J. invited her to a favorite Chicago restaurant of hers and added that he wanted their date to be special. As she got ready, E.J. answered a knock at the door and found a man there with an eviction notice for her. E.J. invited Nicole to move into the mansion. When she asked about Sami, E.J. insisted that he was done with her. Canceling their date, E.J. advised her that he didn't want Stefano to know about the baby right now. John stunned Stefano by announcing that he was giving up control of the DiMera empire and would be out of the mansion by the end of the week. He also revealed that he was doing this for Marlena's sake. Chloe soughts advice from Marlena and lamented the bad decisions she'd made regarding the men in her life. But when she thought that Lucas was cheating on her with Sami, Marlena guessed that she was trying to find out the truth from her. Marlena admitted she knew nothing and urged her to talk with Lucas about this. After Chloe left, John surprised Marlena and announced that he gave up the DiMera empire for her. Lucas returned to find Sami but discovered she was gone and the phone book open to family planning clinics. Sami arrived at the Brookville Clinic for an exam and told the nurse she wanted "this over." As Dr. Sanders examined her, Lucas arrived. He took a call from Chloe who overheard that he was at the clinic with his "wife." Nicole upset Stefano by revealing her plans to move into the mansion. When he complained to her and E.J., Nicole leaked that she was pregnant with E.J.'s baby. Stefano was thrilled.
