James E. Reilly Dead at 60


Legendary head writer James E. Reilly (DAYS OF OUR LIVES, PASSIONS) passed away over the weekend. He was 60. Jonathan Russo, Reilly's agent and friend for over 25 years, says Reilly had been recovering from cardiac surgery when he died suddenly in the hospital. His beloved sister Cathy Robinson was by his side. "James Reilly was one of the most profoundly lovely human beings in our industry. He was a towering person in our industry who had a tremendous faith in God and Catholicism, as anyone who watched PASSIONS knows. Everyone will miss him," adds Russo. There are no funeral plans. There may be a memorial service at a later date.

AMC'S Herlie Dead at 90

Eileen Herlie, who played the feisty Myrtle Fargate on ALL MY CHILDREN since 1976, died on Oct. 8 in New York City. She was 90. The Scottish-born Herlie had an impressive stage and film career and could name Laurence Olivier, Richard Burton and Montgomery Clift as former co-stars.

 Craig's Coming Back!
Soap vet Jon Lindstrom (ex-Kevin, GH/PC; ex-Ryan, GH; ex-Mark, SB) has been tapped to play ATWT bad boy Craig Montgomery. Lindstrom, the fourth actor to tackle the role, lands in Oakdale on December 3. Villainous Craig was last seen boarding a plane bound for the Cayman Islands in February.

OLTL alum Laura Koffman (ex-Cassie) has been cast as Rebecca, the woman from Jesse's , Darnell Williams, past that he recently confessed his involvement with to Angie, Debbie Morgan . There are, however, some pertinent details that Jesse left out, and they are sure to complicate the Hubbards' marriage when Rebecca comes to Pine Valley on October 28 — and comes face-to-face with Angie.

You heard it right — ABC has announced that Eden Riegel's Bianca will be returning to ALL MY CHILDREN on Oct. 17, with her new girlfriend Reese, played by none other than Tamara Braun (ex-Ava, DAYS OF OUR LIVES; ex-Carly, GENERAL HOSPITAL) following on Oct. 30. Sources say Binks and Reese hit town for a huge storyline expected to shake up Pine Valley.

 

AMC Babe's Going Out With A Bang!

 
AMC's Amanda Baker (Babe) is exiting Pine Valley in grand fashion. "Going out with a bang is better than going out with a whimper! And I'm definitely going out with a bang," the actress said in a recent interview.

In a surprising turn of events, Emmy-nominated Nicole Forester (Cassie, GL) has quit the soap. Her last day on set was, September 26, and her final air date is scheduled for early November. Forester, who joined GL in 2005, made the decision after her contract expired last month. Plus, she has some big personal changes coming. "Yes, it's true!" the actress said in a statement, confirming her departure. "I am getting married in October, and I am expecting a baby in February! I am so happy and excited about embarking on these two most wonderful adventures, and I'm so grateful to have some extra time now to embrace them fully."

 

  

 

 GL Casting Scoop! 
Emmy-nominated actor Jeff Branson (ex-Jonathan, AMC) has been hired to fill the the long-awaited recast role of GL's Shayne Lewis. Branson left Pine Valley earlier this year and will be heading to Springfield on December 1 as Josh and Reva's son, who had recently gone missing in Afghanistan. Branson is the seventh actor to play the part. Shayne was last seen on-screen back in 2004.

 Galen Gering (ex-Luis, PASSIONS) been hired on DAYS as an FBI agent, and it seems it's going to be a Passions reunion in Salem, because so has Eric Martsolf (ex-Ethan, PASSIONS) — as a recast for Brady.

"I know so many of those crazies over there at DAYS," says Martsolf. "I've done the electric slide in Nashville with about a dozen of them. Once you've done things like that together, going to work is not a big transition. There's going to be such a comfort factor there that you just can't buy. So, that's going to be terrific."

 GH Reunion on NIGHT SHIFT


TV Guide reported that the two-part finale of GENERAL HOSPITAL: NIGHT SHIFT — Oct. 21 is the last airdate — will be a reunion for former castmates. Anthony Geary (Luke), John Reilly (Sean) and Sharon Wyatt (Tiffany) will appear. GH: NIGHT SHIFT airs on SOAPnet Tuesdays at 11 p.m

Ins And Outs At GENERAL HOSPITAL 
 It's been confirmed by a source at General Hospital that Steve Burton (Jason) will be leaving the show.  No last airdate has been given.  It's been rumored that Vanessa Marcel (ex Brenda) would be returning, but a source from the show has confirmed that plans to bring the actress back have been put on hold.  It's also been confirmed that Tom Pelphrey (ex Jonathan, GL) will be joining the cast, however no first airdate has been released.  We will keep you posted on updates regarding the cast changes.

Florencia Lozano's Tea Delgado is heading back to ONE LIFE TO LIVE. She'll begin airing in early December. Wonder how Todd will cope with this?

 Congratulations to ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Kamar de los Reyes(Antonio), who won the 2008 Alma Award for Outstanding Performance in a Daytime Drama Series on August 17. Also nominated were OLTL's David Fumero (Cristian), GENERAL HOSPITAL's Maurice Benard (Sonny), PASSIONS' Galen Gerring (Luis) and GUIDING LIGHT's Jessica Leccia (Natalia). The 2008 Alma Awards will be telecast Sept. 12 on ABC.
